A Year In Review at Minto

We look back at our 50th year in business

2019 has been an absolutely amazing year. Minto celebrated 50 years in style and we took account of exactly where we’ve been and where we are going. From humble beginnings in Inverurie in 1969 all the way to the present day with our services ranging from digital marketing, web design and branding to promotional merchandise, clothing, and more. We thought we would touch on a few highlights and statistics from throughout the year for you to enjoy.

In January we adopted a student. Her name is Katy. Katy initially started for a week work placement (see her introduction blog here) and were impressed with her dedication and her willingness to get involved. When she was given the option of “work shadowing” later in the year we were delighted to welcome her back as an official team member. She’s also been incredibly generous with her chocolate bribery.

Continuing into the summer our 50th Anniversary celebrations saw us arrange our biggest ever client outing with over 45 clients joining us at Meldrum House in June for a round of golf on what turned out to be a best day of the year. A day on the fairway was followed by an incredible BBQ and one or two (or three) drinks too. We raised money in a ‘closest to the tee competition’ with the help of our clients, the proceeds going towards our chosen charity the DGR. There were also some serious giveaways and prizes on offer too.

In October Bob Minto took part in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Representing the Movember Foundation and collecting donations towards Men’s Mental Health and Prostate Cancer the ride encouraged entrants to dress up in their Sunday best and hit the road on their motorcycles for a good cause. Our MD Bob was our sponsored rider and, combined with the money raised at our golf outing, we raised a staggering £4,776.

DGR 2019 Hedon Bike Helmet

This total put us in the top 50 worldwide and won us a wonderfully designed helmet from Hedon. (Thank you to their team for their great customer service and friendly staff. We love your products!)

We also launched our new website. It had been barely a year since we previously revisited the Minto website, but we’ve been evolving faster than ever and it deserved to be even more spectacular. In the 60 days following the launch our website saw an increase in traffic of 104%. We’ve put a greater emphasis on our work, or products and services and our digital offerings in particular. We also launched our first client E-commerce website this year and have more coming soon in 2020!

And finally, we became an even bigger team! Alongside our student Katy we’ve also welcomed Jordan as our sales executive. Increased client demand combined with our expansion into new industries meant that we needed another dedicated resource. Jordan has picked up the mantle with enthusiasm

In November we made a big change! We left our Aberdeen city centre home of 10 years and moved office. Our expanding team and growing client base in places like Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Houston, reinforced our decision to move. Now based in Blackburn (Scotland) we have fantastic access to transport links with the AWPR, Dyce Airport and the A96 right on our doorstep letting us reach our clients quicker than ever. Why not drop us a line and come and visit!

There was plenty more eventful happenings throughout the year but we thought we'd cherry pick some of the most important. We love working with all our clients and enjoy the creative challenge of delivering every time. We're Looking forward to 2020 and beyond.
